Evomon Shiny & Sparkle Guide
Everything about Shiny and Sparkle variants β how to get them, encounter rates, pity counter mechanics, and the best hunting strategies.
What Are Mutations?
Mutations are rare cosmetic variants of Evomons. There are two confirmed mutations as of June 2026: Shiny (rarest, with stat buffs) and Prismatic (more common, purely cosmetic).
Unique cosmetic recolor with random stat buffs. The rarest form β each species has a pity counter that guarantees one after enough defeats.
Glowing cosmetic variant. Purely visual β no stat bonuses. More common than Shiny but still sought after by collectors.
How to Get Shiny Evomons
There are two ways to encounter mutated Evomons:
Mutations are rolled when you encounter an Evomon in the wild. Each encounter has a chance to spawn a mutated variant. The roll happens before you throw a catcher.
Mutations can also trigger when hatching eggs. The roll happens at hatch time, not when you obtain the egg. Farm eggs for extra mutation chances.
Pity Counter System
Each Evomon species has its own pity counter β a guaranteed mutation after enough encounters:
- β’Per-species tracking: Each creature has its own counter. Farming Blazpup pity doesn't affect Bubble pity.
- β’Persists across sessions: Your progress is saved. Closing the game doesn't reset your pity counter.
- β’Defeat-based: The counter increases when you defeat that species in battle. Simply encountering may not count.
- β’Resets on trigger: Once a mutation is guaranteed, the counter resets for that species.
Stat Bonuses Comparison
| Mutation | HP | Atk | Def | Spd | Sp.A | Sp.D | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shiny | +5 | +5 | +5 | +5 | +5 | +5 | +30 |
| Prismatic | +0 | +0 | +0 | +0 | +0 | +0 | 0 |
Shiny mutation bonuses are added on top of the base Evomon's stats. Prismatic is purely cosmetic β no stat bonuses.
Hunting Tips & Strategies
- β’Focus on high spawn density areas: More encounters per minute means more chances. Find spots where your target species spawns frequently.
- β’Farm eggs too: Mutations trigger on both wild encounters and egg hatches. Hatching eggs gives you extra mutation chances.
- β’Use the pity counter: If you're hunting a specific species, keep track of your defeats. The pity system guarantees a mutation eventually.
- β’Check before catching: Mutations are rolled per encounter, not per catch. You can see if it's mutated before using your catcher.
- β’Save premium catchers: Use Mythic or Master Catchers on Shiny/Sparkle variants. Don't waste them on normal catches.
- β’Shiny Charm items: If available in-game, these can boost mutation rates. Check the shop for rate-boosting items.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Shiny Evomon?
A Shiny Evomon is the rarest mutation with a unique cosmetic recolor and random stat buffs. Shiny variants are highly sought after by collectors and competitive players. Each species has a pity counter that guarantees a Shiny after enough defeats.
What is a Prismatic Evomon?
Prismatic is a glowing cosmetic variant that is more common than Shiny. Unlike Shiny, Prismatic is purely visual β it provides no stat bonuses. Still valued by collectors for its distinctive glow effect.
How do I get a Shiny Evomon?
Shiny variants can appear through two methods: wild encounters and egg hatches. Each time you encounter an Evomon or hatch an egg, there's a chance it will be mutated. The roll happens at spawn/hatch time. Shiny/Prismatic chances display in the bottom-left when catching or hatching.
What is the pity counter?
Each Evomon species has its own pity counter. If you defeat enough of that species without encountering a mutation, the game guarantees one. The counter is tracked per species and persists across sessions.
What are the mutation encounter rates?
Exact rates are still being documented by the community. Shiny is the rarest mutation, while Prismatic is more common. The chance displays in the bottom-left of the screen when catching or hatching. Each species has a pity counter for guaranteed mutations.
Do mutations carry through evolution?
Yes. If you evolve a Shiny Blazpup, it becomes a Shiny Blazgrowl and then a Shiny Blazmane. The mutation bonuses are added on top of the evolved form's base stats.
Can I trade Shiny Evomons?
